Romulo Pires – Brazilian Born Top Model has a Love for the Exotic

As a boy, Romulo Pires never thought about leaving Brazil and exploring the world. He couldn’t know at the time that fate would step in one day when he was 18, and set him on a course for faraway places and exotic locations. Fate had a name – Marina Sakamoto – a talent scout from a modeling agency in Brasilia. She convinced him to enter a modeling competition which he eventually won.

Throughout his career, Romulo Pires has traveled the world for campaigns and runway shows. He has worked for some of the world’s most prominent, luxury brands including Pepe Jeans, Christian Lacroix, Lagerfeld Gallery, cK1, Bloomingdales, Cartier, Macy’s, Gucci and Valentino. Along the way, he has also worked for some of the most talented photographers including Juan Aldabaldetrecu and Steven Meisel.

Romulo Pires loves his professional modeling career because it has afforded him the opportunity to not only pick up other languages, like Italian and French, but also because he enjoys having a job that is always changing, always taking him to new places and meeting new people. He has traveled to Japan’s Shibuya Crossing with Karl Lagerfeld and been engulfed in a sea of Japanese people, and talks fondly about the experience because in the end, the shoot was highly successful.

Paris is the City of Lights, it’s the City of Love, and it’s the Fashion Capitol of the World. Paris is also Romulo Pires’ favorite fashion city because their style of living fascinates him, and the ancient city with its cathedrals and beautiful architecture makes him feel like he’s living in the past. He has had the opportunity to travel to Paris to walk the Louis Vuitton and John Galliano shows in 2008. He also traveled to nearby Milan to walk a show for fashion icons Giorgio Armani and Etro.

Everyone has a bucket list of things they want to do before they die. Professionally, shooting at Mt. Everest is on Romulo Pires’ bucket list because he has always had an intense fascination and curiosity about the Himalayas, and the history behind Mt. Everest. Personally, he would love to visit the Solomon Islands near Papua New Guinea. At the rate Romulo is going, shooting everywhere around the world; it’s certainly only a matter of time before he can scratch these two items off his bucket list.
