Romulo Pires – One of the Sexiest Men Alive

Society trusts People Magazine. And when they put out their “Sexiest Man/Woman Alive” list every year, the public takes notice. In 2006, at the tender age of 23, Romulo Pires was included on People Magazine’s list as one of the sexiest men alive.

Romulo Pires

How does a mechanic-turned-model get on one of the most-read publication’s sexiest 100 list? With a bit of luck, a bit of ambition, and a lot of drop-dead gorgeous good looks. No one can dispute that Brazilian-born model, Romulo Pires, of both Italian and Brazilian ancestry, is among the Brazilian Model Royalty.

Romulo Pires

He shares this royalty status with the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima, Emanuele de Paula, and Rafael Verga. With faces and bodies seemingly painstakingly chiseled out of fine marble, these models own the fashion industry. At 6’ 2”, dusky brown hair and piercing green eyes, Romulo’s visage has elegantly graced both fashion magazine and runways.

Before even walking one runway, however, he was hired to appear in campaigns for world-renowned Chanel and the Lagerfeld Gallery. His contracts extended to Gucci, Valentino, Carolina Herrara, Roberto Cavali, Rochas, Loewe, Cartier, Bloomingdales, Christian Lacroix and more.

Romulo Pires

He was just 18 and working as a mechanic when a talent scout needed the flat tire changed on her car. It was at that point, upon her advice, that he entered the Elite Model Management of Brazil – and low and behold – he won first place.

Romulo Pires

Succeeding as a fashion model is so much more than just exceptionally good looks. Romulo Pires presents himself with a mix of affable masculinity and boy-next-door charm. He is humble, cool and easy-going, and draws people to him with his quiet charisma.

The agencies he works with around the world include 2pm Models in Copenhagen, Denmark; Bananas Models in Paris, France, and Wilhelmina Models in Los Angeles, Miami and New York. Romulo Pires- Top Brazilian Model

Brazil is known for a few things, its hot Amazon rainforest, and its even hotter models. Some famous models that have called Brazil home include Izabel Goulart, Isabeli Fontani, Alessandro Ambrosio, Gisele Bundchen and Romulo Pires.

Romulo Pires

Born on June 6, 1983 of Brazilian and Italian ancestry, Romulo never had ambitions for a modeling career until a talent scout told him he had modeling skill. From there he entered a model search held by Elite Model Management of Brazil, and went on to win first place.

Romulo Pires

Two years later, Karl Lagerfeld came calling and Romulo Pires’ modeling career shot off into space. Romulo says he doesn’t necessarily have one single favorite designer, but if he had to choose? It would be Karl Lagerfeld hands down. “He is one of the biggest and kindest people I have ever met,” Romulo said.

Romulo Pires

And what has modeling done for Romulo? Taken him all around the world, in fact, for free! Yes, his impeccable, chiseled jaw has shown him the world. He has learned English, and some Italian and French, as well. Some of the famous designers and brands he has worked with include Gucci, the aforementioned Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavali, Zara, Guess, Pepe Jeans, Cartier, Macy’s, Target, Nieman Marcus, and so many more.

Romulo Pires

With many brothers and sisters (four altogether) on his mother’s side, and eight brothers and sisters on his father’s side, he has strengthened the family core by helping them financially through his modeling career. He is very proud of this, and so his mother. His mother has told him that God has a plan for each one of us, and for Romulo, it is modeling.

Romulo Pires

And his dating life? Romulo Pires’ advice is simple, “Do your very best to find someone who cares about you.” In this world with seven billion people, this is something everyone has a hard time accomplishing, but, just like with modeling, if you work hard at it, the odds will eventually fall in your favor.

Romulo Pires

Having seen the world a few times over, you wouldn’t think that Romulo Pires would necessarily have a favorite place to shoot. So what about someplace he’s never been? “Mount Everest,” he exclaims matter-of-factly. “It’s on my bucket list of places to shoot, though it probably will never be possible.” With this model’s good luck and great looks? Surely, nothing is impossible.

Romulo Pires – From Mechanic to Model, a Timeline

In 1983, when the world was obsessed with Rubik’s Cube’s, Cabbage Patch Kids and Hacky Sacks, a family in Brazil welcomed a tiny bundle of joy named Romulo into the world. Romulo Pires was a pretty normal kid who grew up with dreams of becoming a famous soccer player, as many of his friends did. Soccer is Brazil’s most favorite sport, and they hold their athletes in very high regard, some of which include Pele, Roberto Carlos and Marta.

Romulo Pires

But soccer was not meant to be Romulo Pires’ destiny. Instead, while working as a mechanic at the age of 18, he was spotted by a talent scout and encouraged to enter the Elite Model Management talent search, for which he won first place. Two years later, famous German fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, called. This propelled him toward working with iconic brands like Chanel, Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Valentino, Pepe Jeans, Gucci, Christian Lacroix, and still others. His is the face of a generation, the face that elite brands have readily adapted for their own luminary visions.

Romulo Pires

At the age of 23, Romulo Pires appeared in a Spanish GQ editorial, photographed by Madrid photographer Juan Aldabaldetrecu. Juan’s work has also been seen in EPS, Elle, GQ, and XL Semanal. In the same year, Romulo was photographed by Steven Meisel for Italian fashion designer, Valentino. The following year, his contract with Gucci was renewed, and he also modeled for the Louis Vuitton catalog.

Romulo Pires

In his twenties he appeared in a Glamour magazine editorial, and walked the catwalk for both Georgio Armani and Etro in Milan. He appeared in the 2006 Fall issue of VMan, a men’s fashion magazine established three years earlier that has also featured celebrities like Josh Brolin, Orlando Bloom, James Franco and Stephen Dorff.

Romulo Pires

More recently, Romulo has appeared in a Madame Figaro editorial, and graced the streets of Paris to walk in a John Galliano show there. Branching out into the world of fragrances, Romulo signed a contract to work for Calvin Klein One.
Between all of the shoots and the runways and the editorials, Romulo loves to spend time with family and friends. He still finds time to play soccer but has since given up his childhood dreams, in favor of seeing the world as the coveted and refined mega model he has become.

Romulo Pires : Front & Center On The Runway

Romulo Pires has modeled for leading names in the fashion world, walked the runway for high- end designers, and been featured in the most illustrious magazines.  Coming from a single parent home in which his mother was the sole provider for him and his two siblings, Romulo Pires knew he wanted to make a true difference in the lives of his family.  But how he would do this, he had no idea.  He started working as a mechanic, and his only thought about stardom would be from dreams of becoming a soccer player for Brazil.  But, life is full of surprises, he says, and you never know where it’s going to take you.

Romulo Pires

Such is the story of a turn of fate for Romulo Pires.  He was working as a mechanic, trying to make a living, (and looking like a hot mess!) when Marina Sakomoto walked into his shop. She was working with a scouting agency In Brazil.  It was she who spotted this diamond in the rough, and saw through all the grease on the face and dirt under the fingernails.  She realized that when cleaned up, this boy would like a million bucks.  When he was changing her flat tire, she said that he was attractive, and recommended he enter the model search contest by Elite Model Management.  As fate would have it, Romulo ended up taking first place in that competition.

Romulo Pires

In 2001, Romulo Pires entered the glamorous world of modeling.  Since his start, he has worked for Gucci, Valentino, Pepe Jeans, Christian Lacroix, Chanel, Lagerfeld Gallery, Ck1, Belstaff, Alessandro Delacqua, Carolina Herrera, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavali, Rochas, Zara, Clarins, Guess, Francesco Smalto, Emanuel Ungaro, Loewe, Cartier, Macys, Bloomingdales, Target, and Neiman Marcus.  Having worked for such well-established and renowned companies and brands proves how much of an asset he is to this industry.

Romulo Pires

When he is not working, Romulo networks within the fashion industry and enjoys what he can learn from them.  He also likes to hang out with his friends, play pool and cards, and go out to a bar or theater. His favorite sport and pastime, however, in true Brazilian style, is playing soccer.
