The Fifty Shades of Romulo

Romulo Pires

50 Shades of Grey has the world all in a tizzy. You either love it or hate it. However, there’s nothing to hate about Romulo Pires. Tall, dark, insanely handsome, the hot Brazilian model with half Brazilian and half Italian ancestry is world-renown for his ad campaigns and editorial shoots for the top luxury brands on the planet. You name the luxury brand, he’s been there - Chanel, Lagerfeld Gallery, Francesco Smalto, Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, these opulent brands are not at the top simply because of their fabulous products, they also know a thing or two about marketing as well and putting Romulo Pires in the driver seat draws customers to them by the millions.

Romulo Pires

There’s probably much you don’t know about Romulo Pires. When he’s not acting he loves playing soccer (like a good Brazilian boy should), playing tennis, practicing Muay Thai and he also plays the ukulele. He comes from an enormous family of 13 brothers and sisters and considers his mom his idol, hero and life inspiration.

Romulo Pires Stunning on Harper’s Bazaar China Magazine Cover

Romulo Pires

The cover of Harper’s Bazaar China magazine is usually graced by gorgeous Oriental women in various comely outfits and poses. On occasion, the magazine will feature someone like Sarah Jessica Parker or model Victoria Beckham. However, this past Christmas, for their special Christmas edition, Harper’s Bazaar China proudly displayed Romulo Pires and Valeria Garcia in full regalia for the dazzling Tiffany & Co. Christmas ad campaign. With smatterings of Tiffany & Co.’s famous robin egg blue and enormous white flakes falling just outside the floor to ceiling window, Romulo Pires looks stunning holding a tiny gift of what one can only guess is probably a piece of jewelry for the equally as gorgeous Valeria. Photographer Tim Gutt and Set Designer Shona Heath should take great pride in this campaign with a citron and diamond necklace wrapped around the tree like über-expensive garland and citron and diamond earrings hanging as delightfully dazzling ornaments.

Romulo Pires Loves Modeling with a Side of Fun and Adventure

Romulo Pires has always been the type of man his friends can lean on, and that his family can trust and admire. For him, traveling around the world for his modeling career is a blessing as he describes himself as an eclectic person with a type of gypsy wanderlust in his heart, always propelling him forward to the next shoot, the next location, the next set of creative people to meet and befriend. Already his career has taken him to such exotic locales as the Shibuya Crossing in Japan, Milan, Paris and more. His dream shoot takes him to the Himalayas because he is deeply fascinated with the history of Mount Everest and the area in general. Even though Romulo Pires believes a shoot there might be impossible, maybe someday, he hopes, he can brave the icy winds and stand on the foothills of the quiet, looming Tibetan giant.

Romulo Pires: Reaching the Highest Level of Success

Romulo Pires

Coming from a family of 13, Romulo Pires never dreamed he’d make it big. Working as a mechanic in Brazil, people there always called him “Model of Funerary” no doubt because of his impressive height and brooding, dark good looks. This was the only indication that maybe, one day, luck and destiny would come knocking and sure enough it did, in the form of a talent scout from Brasilia, Brazil while he changed the scout’s flat tire. Since that time, Romulo Pires has been the face and figure for the most luxurious and well-known brands in the world including Lagerfeld, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Rochas, Clarins, Francesco Smalto and an impressive array of others. Romulo Pires believes that happiness is the highest level of success. With his modeling career growing exponentially, most recently he has appeared in holiday ads by Tiffany & Co., and his ability to help his mother and the rest of his family, Romulo Pires can’t imagine being even more successful than he is right now.

Move Over Santa! There’s a New Man in Town this Christmas

Romulo Pires

Red, gold and green might be the traditional colors for Christmas, but this year, the new Tiffany & Co. Christmas campaign turns tradition on its ear. Already distinctive for its trademark robin egg blue, Tiffany & Co. infuses their ad campaign with this unorthodox hue for a remarkably calm, clean and exotic new type of Christmas appeal. Romulo Pires is the male face of the campaign and sparkles amidst the fluffy urban freshness and oversized sparkling gifts, working opposite Valeria Garcia who herself is the embodiment of retro perky. There’s no Santa in sight in this campaign and that’s because Romulo’s quiet, contrastingly dark and debonair attitude is enough of a dominating male presence to spark nostalgic thoughts of 50’s ads.  Set designer Shona Heath has captured the magic of the modern Christmas to a Tee.

Romulo Pires: Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

Romulo Pires

Romulo Pires is a man’s man. As a boy, he dreamt of playing professional soccer and as a teenager he worked as a mechanic. He practices the Oriental combat sport, Muay Thai, plays the ukulele, and hangs out with his friends going to bars, movies, and playing pool. He owns four dogs, two Jack Russell Terriers and two Pugs, and he would ultimately, at some point in his life; love to become the star of a mobster movie. Romulo Pires is also a ladies’ man, he is tall, elegant, has a face and body like a Roman God and a smile like an angel whose head is filled with devilishly delightful thoughts. This Christmas, you’ll find him rockin’ around the Christmas tree with Valeria Garcia in Tiffany & Co.’s new Christmas campaign ads, where his is every woman’s fantasy gift.

Romulo Pires: Debonair and Dapper in New Holiday Ads

Romulo Pires

The new Tiffany & Co. Christmas campaign accomplishes what it set out to do: it leaves the public breathless with anticipatory dreams of an effervescent, uncluttered holiday immersed in a non-traditional yet curiously-fitting robin egg blue. Photographed by Tim Gutt, Romulo Pires is the face of the campaign and brings his warmth and visual charisma to the snowy Christmas ads. Tiffany’s stylish take on 50’s holiday flyers is the perfect platform for Romulo Pires to display his masculine grace, classic appeal, and timeless elegance. An established Brazilian model, Romulo Pires has a decade of modeling experience and has also worked for greats such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Emanuel Ungaro, Gucci and Carolina Herrera. He has also worked on the cK1 and Christian Lacroix’s Absynthe fragrance campaigns doing what Romulo does best, embodying every woman’s ultimate fantasy with his alluring charm.

Romulo Pires: A Model for Every Season

Romulo Pires

Chiseled, stunning, gorgeous. Tall and stately, Romulo Pires has the face of an angel, but is also deliciously, devilishly handsome. Hailing from sweltering hot Brazil, Romulo is of both Brazilian and Italian descent, and he has been commissioned by nearly every luxury brand in the world for print ads, commercials, runway shows, and editorials. His permeating charm and charisma allow him to shine in any surrounding and any season. His flawless olive skin warms winter ads beautifully, as in the recent Tiffany & Co. holiday campaign depicting Romulo and Valeria Garcia amidst a dazzling turquoise and white urban holiday setting. Conversely, Romulo’s bare chest and pseudo-sweaty locks sizzle in the CK1 “We are One” fragrance commercial set in the American southwest. It’s clear that Romulo Pires’ inner warmth and fire easily add the heat necessary to make any campaign jump from the page and into the viewer’s heart.

Romulo Pires – Sensuous Model and Action Hero Wannabe

Romulo Pires

Creating a sensation wherever he goes, Romulo Pires has been the go-to model for dozens of opulent brands for over a decade. Fully at home with being in front of the camera, Brazilian-born model Romulo Pires readily admits that between shoots in Milan, Paris, Japan and wherever else his hectic schedule takes him, he dreams of being the next action hero. “If I could work with anyone, it would be Martin Scorsese. He is the quintessential mafia/mob movie director and acting in one of his movies would fulfill a huge dream of mine.” Romulo Pires loves actions films, especially old mafia movies and with his dark tousled hair, piercing green eyes, imposing 6’2” stance and charming hyperactivity, who’s to say he won’t just become Mr. Scorsese’s next movie darling?

Romulo Pires is the Face of Luxury

Romulo Pires

Romulo Pires was born with a face that few people can ignore. In fact, as a model, he has proven this time and again with his collaborations with some of the most well-known luxury brands in the world. He has secured ad campaigns with Gucci, Pepe Jeans, Carolina Herrera, Christian Lacroix, Valentino, among countless others. He has starred in Chanel and Lagerfeld Gallery ad campaigns and has modeled for the Louis Vuitton catalog. At 6’2”, his lithe and sexy physique has graced the pages of both the Spanish and Korean GQ magazine. Emanuel Ungaro took full advantage of this model’s incredible sex appeal by putting him in bed with two women for one of his ad campaigns. After a decade in the business, his sex appeal is only increasing, and Romulo Pires shows no signs of slowing down.

Romulo Pires Welcomes Challenges As They Come

Romulo Pires

Being one among 13 children, Romulo was raised with the innate ability to accept and successfully hurdle any challenge. Working as a mechanic at the age of 18, he was spotted by a model talent scout and won first place at the Elite Model Management of Brazil model search.

Romulo Pires

Since the beginning, this tall, cool glass of water has taken on life like a matador. Whether he is walking the catwalk in Paris or Milan, or kissing Madonna during a “W” magazine shoot, Romulo Pires is proud to be the face of Gucci, Valentino, and the dozens of other luxury brands that have used his classic visage to represent them. “Challenges can reveal themselves practically anywhere,” Romulo Pires said, speaking of the time when he and Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel were lost in a sea of Japanese people at Shibuia Crossing. A challenge at the time, he admits, but now, a beloved memory.

Romulo Pires: Drop Dead Gorgeous with a Huge Heart

Romulo Pires

Italian-Brazilian model Romulo Pires didn’t always dream of being a model. In fact, his dreams were set on the soccer field, where he imagined earning the praise and love of his fellow Brazilians by being a star soccer player. The universe had a different idea, however, and one day when he was 18, it set his life spinning into the path of modeling. A decade has passed and he hasn’t looked back. He hasn’t had time to! Between global jet setting to Japan, Milan, and the Americas, Romulo Pires has taken the modeling world by storm, and has refused to let go of the reigns. His classic chiseled looks and breathtaking smile has not only won over the world of modeling, but the public in general. Women everywhere adore his boyish good looks that achingly betray his affable nature.

Model Romulo Pires Up-close and Personal

As a member of Brazilian “Royalty,” Romulo Pires has been modeling for luxury magazines and walking runways for top designers for the past decade. He is proud of his many accomplishments including being the face for Gucci, Pepe Jeans, Christian Lacroix, Lagerfeld Gallery, cK1, Macy’s, Cartier, Valentino, and many others.  His modeling career has taken him all over the world including Milan, Paris, and Japan. He has withstood brutal weather conditions all for the sake of “getting just the right shot.”

But modeling isn’t the only thing that keeps this handsome devil happy. He is also a huge fan of movies and acting. If given the chance, he says, he would love to act in a film directed by Martin Scorsese, partly because of the director’s brilliance, and partly because Romulo Pires loves action and old mafia movies. Similar to his approach to modeling, he believes that if you’re going to do something, you need to do it 100% right, so his dream doesn’t just include action movies, it also includes acting in dramas, comedies, and thrillers.

Romulo Pires loves music, all kinds of music, but his favorite is popular Brazilian music including Anitta, Luan Santana, and Calvin Harris. During his free time he loves going out with friends to see bands, play pool, and of course, go to the movies. He also loves playing soccer (his first love as a boy), playing tennis, and practicing the combat sport, Muay Thai.

Romulo Pires

Since he was “discovered” while working as a mechanic at the tender age of 18, Romulo Pires has never lost sight of his roots. He stays in touch with his large family (13 total sisters and brothers!) and is deeply devoted to his mother, whom, he says, was and continues to be his daily inspiration. While at home in Brazil, he raises four dogs, two Pugs named Fiji and Akiba, and two Jack Russell Terriers named Gaso and Micah. Romulo loves being able to travel home to Brazil to see his family, friends, and pets, but the eclectic side of him pushes him to travel, and that’s why modeling (along with his exquisite good looks), is his true passion.

Romulo Pires – Born for the Camera

Tall, noble, and born with an effervescent charm, Romulo Pires has been gracing runways, print ads, commercials, and women’s hearts for over a decade. He is known for his brilliantly dark wavy hair and penetrating green eyes, along with perfect Roman features and drop-dead gorgeous smile. It was this perfection that Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel first saw when he encountered Romulo. It was this encounter that would embark Romulo on a life-long adventure into modeling and global travel.

Before Karl Lagerfeld had the opportunity to notice Romulo Pires, however, a scout from a modeling agency in Brasilia spotted Romulo at the garage where he was working. She had gotten a flat tire and when Romulo helped her with it, she proclaimed that he was modelesque and should enter a model search. The scout, Marina Sakomoto, probably couldn’t have realized just how accurate her eye was that day. Romulo entered the Elite Model Management model search and was awarded first place.

Romulo Pires

Once Karl Lagerfeld spotted Romulo, his career took off. He soon became the beloved face for many of the world’s luxurious brands like Francesco Smalto, Ck1, Loewe, Cartier, Macy’s, Valentio, Gucci, Pepe Jeans and an impressive host of others. Traveling throughout the world and meeting creative people has served Romulo well, as he considers himself to be highly-eclectic and in continual need of change, including traveling.

His charming, affable personality has won him favor among the designers, stylists, photographers and other creative people in the modeling industry. As a darling among the luxury brands, Romulo Pires is proud to represent some of the most iconic and recognized brands in the world including appearances in magazines such as Glamour, GQ (Spanish and Korean), V Man, Vanity Fair, and Upstreet.

Romulo Pires

Even though Romulo’s modeling career has taken him far and wide across the globe, one of the locations he’d love to explore but has never had the opportunity to is Mt. Everest. Intrigued by the rich history involved with the area, Romulo hopes that one day, either professionally or personally, he can visit the mighty mountain and create his own set of memories there.

Supermodel Romulo Pires Enjoys The Quiet Life

When Brazilian supermodel Romulo Pires was a young boy growing up in Brasilia, Brazil, his life’s ambition was to be a soccer player for the Brazil national football team. However, fate intervened in the guise of modeling scout Marina Sakamoto, and while Romulo was fixing her flat tire at the mechanic’s shop he was employed at, she asked him if he had ever considered modeling. Naturally, the thought hadn’t crossed his mind, but Sakamoto convinced Romulo to compete in a modeling contest being sponsored by Elite Models Management in Brazil. Romulo won first place, of course, and was soon performing in ad campaigns for the most renowned fashion houses in the world.

Romulo Pires

He has been seen in catalogues for Bloomingdales, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus, has appeared in ads for CK One, Cartier, and Christian Lacroix, and has walked runways for everyone from Galliano to Etro. There is almost nobody in the fashion industry who Romulo hasn’t worked with, and the index of renowned photographers who have snapped his profile is almost endless as well, with such famous names as Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel, and Mario Testino at the top of the list.

Romulo Pires

But, when work is finished and the spotlights are taken down, Romulo is most comfortable enjoying the quieter pursuits of life, such as playing his ukulele, or playing cards with his friends, or visiting vintage second hand stores. He admits a fondness for dark chocolate and birthday cakes when he’s not on a shoot, and can often be found taking in the latest movies as a form of relaxation. He also hopes to open a small café in Brazil when he decides to retire from modeling, so that one day we can expect to find Romulo Pires sipping on his world famous Brazilian coffee and enjoying a quiet pastry in his home country once he becomes a private citizen again.

Brazilian Model Romulo Pires Considers His Long Term Plans

What does a young person do when they begin thinking about what lies ahead in their future? Although many people don’t really consider their retirement until they get close to retirement age, others, such as Brazilian supermodel Romulo Pires, have begun musing on the possibility of future options long before he will have to consider retirement. For example, when asked recently what he thinks he would be professionally if he didn’t fall into modelling, Romulo replied, “I never stop to think about it, but probably a mechanic.”

Similarly, when asked what he would like to do later in life, Romulo decided that he would like to “open a café in Brazil.” Perhaps this is why in his spare time, as if there were any, Romulo takes cooking lessons in preparation for his forthcoming business ventures. As a Brazilian with traces of Italian descent, Romulo grew up in his country’s capital of Brasilia, which hosts a variety of different ethnicities and cultures. As such, Romulo’s hometown offered him a melting pot of culinary choices to experience, so it might be difficult for him to decide which menu directions his café might take.

Romulo Pires

For example, he could stick to the obvious choice of a regional coffee bar, as Brazil is as renowned for its emerging café culture as for being one of the largest coffee producers in the world. Having also lived in Milan and Paris, though, Romulo could also opt for focusing on Italian or French cuisine, which would also fit in perfectly with Brazil’s multiethnic population. Whichever route he decides to go, it is certain that any type of café that Romulo Pires chooses to open will be as successful as his longtime modeling career. However, it will be a long time before any of us find out what he will do in retirement.

Model Romulo Pires Thanks Karl Lagerfeld

Nothing could have prepared Romulo Pires for the levels of achievement and success that his modelling career has bestowed upon him. Romulo's success story is certainly a fairytale come true in many senses, but it hasn't seemed to change him from being the down to earth, respectful individual that he was brought up by his mother to be. When asked what advice he would give to young men aspiring to join the modeling industry, Romulo offers, "Remember the names of the people who help you to be where you are." Although this seems like simple advice, it demonstrates Romulo's enduring regard for his mentors and his influences.

Romulo began his life as a model by chance. He was literally fixing a flat tire while working as a mechanic in his hometown of Brasilia, Brazil, when the lady whose tire he was fixing asked him if he had ever considered modeling. As one of six children being raised by a single mother, the thought of becoming a male model was the furthest thing from his mind. The woman with the flat tire turned out to be scouting agent Marina Sakamoto from the Brazilian branch of Paris' Elite Model Management, and she convinced Romulo to participate in a modeling competition. Naturally, Romulo won first place, and his life of international stardom was launched.

Through his career, Romulo has always taken the time to show his gratitude and pay tribute to those who have helped his career along the way, especially Creative Director for the House of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld arrived when Romulo felt his career had reached a lull, and he wasn't getting any work. Romulo believes that Lagerfeld revived his career, which has reached an unprecedented series of peaks since then, with work for brands such as CK One and Cartier, as well as being photographed by such legends as Steven Meisel and Helmut Newton. Perhaps, as Romulo Pires demonstrates, a little kindness does go a long way.

The Unknown Passions Of Romulo Pires

As one of the most in-demand male models working in the fashion industry today, one would think that Brazilian born Romulo Pires had little time left for recreation, leisure, or for learning a new trick or two. Romulo, whose global web of modeling agencies, such as Kult in Hamburg, View in Spain, and Next in Vienna, not to mention his mother agency Bananas in Paris, among many more, obviously keep him working around the world as well as around the clock.

Recently spotted in a Wilcox/Johansson spread for Citizen K Homme Sport, Romulo Pires has called Paris and Milan his home, in addition to his native Brazil, but has recently settled on New York City as his base of operations. Through his extensive travels he has become multilingual, adding Italian and French to his fluency in English, as well as to his native Portuguese. But, when not walking the runway for Louis Vuitton or Giorgio Armani, or appearing as the face of Gucci or being photographed with Madonna for W Magazine, Romulo Pires is quietly pursuing two of his passions, acting and cooking.

In his spare time, Romulo is taking acting lessons, which could turn him into a double threat by the time he combines his model's presence with his actor's chops on the silver screen. Acting could open up a whole new avenue for Romulo, and as the camera obviously loves him and the different looks he can transform himself into, it should only be a matter of time before we hear from him.

However, it is his love of food that has propelled Romulo to pursue cooking classes. He has often spoken of opening up a café if he ever decides to retire from modeling, and by studying the culinary arts, Romulo Pires is on the right track for a future career opportunity. Who wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant owned by one of the most popular Brazilian models working today?
